Public Records

It is the policy of the City of Spanish Fort to provide copies of public documents upon request in an expedient manner. When the request is received in the Office of the City Clerk, the person requesting the information is advised that the request is normally handled within seven working days. Such requests, particularly those involving a large volume of information, must be handled on a time-available basis so as not to compromise the City’s day-to-day operations.

All requests for reproduction of records must be signed and presented to the City Clerk on the City of Spanish Fort’s Request for City Records form. The City assesses a reproduction fee of $1.00 per page for records, $25.00 for a copy of the City's Subdivision Regulations, $35.00 for the Comprehensive Plan and $10.00 for a Zoning map.  Due to the recent adoption of numerous amendments, the Spanish Fort Zoning Ordinance is currently unavailable for purchase, however, copies of various sections of the Zoning Ordinance may be requested, as needed.  A link to the City's Comprehensive Plan may be found in the Government section of this website.
Reasonable public access shall be granted to view records under the supervision of an employee in the City Clerk’s office.

Under Alabama law, e-mail are public records. If you do not want your e-mail released to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead contact with Office by phone or in writing.
