WHY AREN'T ALABAMA RESIDENTS WEARING SEAT BELTS?

SEAT BELT

From driver's education to roadside billboards, the mantra to buckle up is drilled into drivers from childhood.  However, in 2014, more than 240 people died in Alabama car accidents who were not wearing seat belts.

Do you buckle up each time you drive or ride in an automobile?  Are you sure that your teenagers buckle up when they are out in a vehicle without you?  Cassie Fambro of al.com wrote the following article which should serve as a reminder to each of us as we drive or ride in an automobile.

Why Aren't Alabamians Wearing Seat Belts?

TEXTING WHILE DRIVING IS DANGEROUS
AND AGAINST THE LAW IN SPANISH FORT

TEXTING WHILE DRIVING

Please remember that texting while driving is not only life-threatening, but is illegal in the City of Spanish Fort.  Ordinance No. 399-2011 prohibits texting while driving within Spanish Fort's City limits and is an offense punishable by fine and/or imprisonment.

Don't place yourself in the situation where your next next message could be your last!

BURNING OF LEAVES, LIMBS AND YARD DEBRIS
IS PROHIBITED WITHIN THE CITY'S LIMITS

Spring has sprung once again!  While many Spanish Fort residents are anxious to rake up the brown leaves and rid their yards of dead limbs and cuttings, the burning of leaves, limbs, lawn clippings, debris, etc., is prohibited by Ordinance No. 282-2007.
On especially nice days, when it is enticing to open the windows of your home and let some fresh air in, the last thing you want to smell is your neighbor's burn pile wafting smoke into your home.  Please be considerate and bag your leaves and debris for the City's garbage provider to pick up.  Limbs will be picked up at the curb, as well.
