CHRISTMAS IN THE FORT
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING & MOVIE NIGHT
Bring in the Christmas spirit during our annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Spanish Fort Community Center. Light refreshments will be served, and live music will lead the community in Christmas carols as the City tree is brought to life with Christmas lights. Afterward, families are invited to join the City of Spanish Fort and Spanish Fort Public Library for a short family holiday film.
THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS PARADE
To spread Christmas Spirit to the residents of Spanish Fort and surrounding communities, the City of Spanish Fort hosts its annual Spirit of Christmas Parade at the beautiful Eastern Shore Centre located on State Highway 181, Exit 38 off Interstate 10.
The Spirit of Christmas Parade is led by the prestigious Daphne-Spanish Fort Air Force JROTC Color Guard and Cadets, followed by the award-winning Spanish Fort High School Marching Band and cheerleaders, Miss Spanish Fort High School, and the Grand Marshal. Adding to the holiday cheer are local civic groups, dance troupes, floats decorated by church and business organizations, and more! Of course, The Spirit of Christmas Parade would not be complete without a visit from the most famous jolly old elf, Santa Claus, arriving with a little assistance from the Spanish Fort Fire Department!
'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS BOOK READING
Every year during the holiday season, the City of Spanish Fort hosts its 'Twas the Night Before Christmas book reading. This cozy family event is held at the Spanish Fort Community Center. Children are encouraged to wear their warmest pajamas and bring their favorite blanket to sit on. The evening begins with the joyous singing of Christmas carols, putting everyone in the Christmas spirit in anticipation of the main event! With animation and excitement, guest readers read aloud several holiday books, much to the children’s delight. The final story, Clement Clarke Moore’s memorable poem, "'Twas the Night Before Christmas", is read by a very special guest reader from the North Pole! The atmosphere is magical for both the little ones and the grown-ups in attendance. After storytime, families have a chance to share their holiday hopes with Santa before enjoying cookies and warm cocoa.
This memorable event has become an annual tradition for many families in Spanish Fort and the surrounding area. We welcome you to join us and make it a Christmas tradition for your family, too!
