ZONING
SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS
All subdivisions of land within the City of Spanish Fort and its Extraterritorial Jurisdiction are reviewed by the Planning Department to ensure compliance with the City's Subdivision Regulations. Planning Department staff communicate any issues and deficiencies to applicants prior to making a recommendation to the Planning Commission regarding approval of the subdivision application.
LAND USE AND SITE PLAN INFORMATION
The Zoning Ordinance of the City of Spanish Fort requires that the Planning Commission review and approve site plans for new commercial developments prior to obtaining building permits and commencement of construction. Certain required information must be provided to the Spanish Fort Planning Commission by the developer, contractor or owner of the property for the Commission to properly act on a site plan review application.
PLANNING COMMISSION MEETINGS
The Planning Commission meets the second Monday of each month at the Spanish Fort Community Center (7361 Spanish Fort Boulevard). Meetings begin with an informal work session at 6:00 pm, followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 pm. Informal work sessions are held on the last Monday of the month, as needed, for the review and discussion of issues submitted for consideration on the following month’s meeting agenda. CITY OF SPANISH FORT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
After years of dedicated work by our Planning Commission, City Council, citizens and with community input, the City of Spanish Fort's Comprehensive Plan for the future was approved in May 2011. The plan is designed to guide decision making concerning many of the key issues and opportunities relevant to the citizens and to the future of the City of Spanish Fort.
